Internet Crime!

Have a bug in my pants (just an expression – lol) about Internet Crime. As I’m sure, you may have experienced some form of scam going on these days, hopefully nothing too serious :) . It really gets me when I see some form of rip-off  happening as it directly reflects on all of us who are just trying to make our living on the internet in an honest and integral way.

I recently experienced a situation where I bought into a product thinking it looked good but as often happens when I checked it out, it was bogus hoopla (is that a technical term). When I went to request a refund, “They” emailed me back saying it was past the 7 day policy for the refund. I requested the refund 3 days after the purchase and it took them surprisingly 5 more days to respond claiming it was past the 7 day policy – imagine that, 3 + 5 = 8!

I won’t name names because I just don’t believe in bashing others on the net, they know who they are and they have to look at themselves in the mirror.

What I do now and I’m sure this may cause a rift in the continuum but I’m going to expose it anyway ( I’m very very sick of this crap ), is I report them to the IC3 – Internet Crime Complaint Center, I believe a division of the FBI (correct me if I’m wrong) and I let them handle it. I do let the individuals know before hand that if they do not correct the situation by bla bla, then I will report them. I have only done this twice when it has involved a blatant rip-off and I don’t really want to get people in trouble but when they take my money and don’t honor their commitments, I will do it.  As we all should, to stand up to these thieves that continually try to skirt the rules to make a buck.

My advise to my followers is to stay on the straight and narrow, treat your subscribers honestly and with integrity and they will stay, longer than shorter we hope. ;)

Others things bug me as well, like putting “payment pending” in the subject of emails, that sort of thing to entice you to open them. I’m not a jerk and it’s not a crime (yet) so I wouldn’t raise poo poo over that, I just choose not to deal with those types.

It is nice to see some of the companies starting to lay down rules like if you make a claim of sales, you better be able to back it up with facts, that type of thing.

OK, back to work, enough bitching – lol.

Till next time and an update on my new venture.
